Hey, I'm Jordan. I've been into programming since I was 8, when my dad let me make a basic HTML website on his 5MB web server. Since then, I've been hooked. These days I'm a backend engineer: microservices, distributed data, secure APIs.

I'm a very creative person and a very logical person, and software engineering mixes both, so it fits. I really get into coming up with efficient, secure ways to move and store data. Optimizing requests is satisfying. (Plus frontend is hard 😭 like how do you even center a <div>.)

Outside of work I have my cat Mochi who I love very much, I go on walks every day, and I play a lot of games. I change interests a lot, but side projects are usually homelab stuff or gamedev. I'm a pro at starting projects and never quite finishing them, but I always learn something new from it.

## experience

  1. Nov 2025 — present
    Software Engineer II

On the Smart Signals team. We build the backend that powers device intelligence and fraud detection — basically the part that figures out if a device showing up today is the same one that showed up yesterday, and whether to trust it. Turns out a lot of bots think they're sneakier than they are.

  2. Sept 2023 — Oct 2025
    Software Engineer I

On the Assets team. Built Go gRPC services and Airflow pipelines to ingest tradeable financial assets (stocks, bonds, mutual funds, options, and other things I'd never heard of before this job) into a single source of truth the rest of the company queries. A lot of data, every day. It has to be right, because money.

  3. Aug 2021 — Sept 2023
    Senior Associate Software Engineer

Card Core team. Started writing personal-info management services in Java, then helped lead the migration to Go. The fun (and occasionally cursed) part was building the bridge between the new serverless APIs we were shipping and the legacy mainframe systems that still ran a huge chunk of the bank. Mainframes: older than me, and still going strong.

  4. May 2019 — Aug 2021
    Application Software Engineer

Started as a summer intern, stayed part-time through college, then went full-time for a few months after I graduated. Built full-stack web apps and REST APIs for their managed care platform — Angular and Node on the front, a grab bag of databases on the back (MongoDB, CouchDB, Oracle, MSSQL — yes, all four, don't ask).
